So… Here I am, late at night on a Wednesday, or early on a Thursday depending upon your perspective. I’ve made some moves in a positive direction involving my development of websites and a method for developing websites. I’m over 2 years into my job at 5Points Creative as a Web Developer. I say developer because I’m not specifically designing websites as much as I am defining how they’re supposed to work and behave. However, that is selling myself short as well. I’m doing a hell of a lot more than that. I’ve shot videos, I’ve done photography, I’ve designed documents, I’ve designed websites, and I’ve constructed beautiful websites that literally no one has. A great deal of portfolio worthy designs and applications.
I guess that means it’s time to update the portfolio. I’m not so good at blogging, but I’m a great deal better at communicating. In the past 3 months I’ve designed two incredible websites and helped launch two. The overlap means that One of those websites is live and I can truly be proud of. I’d like to direct your attention to deafhh.org. The Non-profit organization managed by my Mom, hired the company I work for to create a new marketing push for them. Mainly, they desperately needed a modern website. That was my responsibility. I designed the branding for them anyways! The website is anchored in the region, and I tried to use regional elements in the design. Communication was a focus, so we made the typical ‘hero’ section a video that talked directly to the visitor.
I hope that I’m doing everything the way I should, but I can never know. I’m just trying as hard as I can. I’ve got a 6 year old son, a 7 year relationship, an evolving career, and an incredible drive to… Change.
